Deadline for submission of preview shorts is August 15, 2009. Submission fee for each film is $10.00
US or $5.00 US for students, payable to
Pahrump Arts Council. All films should have a production date of
January 1, 2006 or later.

Short films to be included in the program shall be forty (40) minutes or less, including final credits. Initial
submission of preview copy of film may be sent to our address as a data .mov file (quicktime) or on Beta
SP, DVD-R, Mini-DV or DV-DVcam and postmarked or delivered on or before the above date.

Each submission must be accompanied by contact information (name, address, telephone & email).  
Preview copies must be clearly labeled with the film title, running time and contact information. Preview
copies may be returned by special arrangement. Please provide self addressed, stamped envelope.  All
final selections will be used for publicity at the discretion of the festival.

Applicant grants HDSIFF the right to show their film publicly unless written notice is given to HDSIFF.  All
review copies become property of HDSIFF unless return instructions and postage are provided at time of
entry. HDSIFF archives these films and may make them available for review through a film library in the
future. Submission of an entry to this festival signifies that the entrant understands, accepts and agrees to
these conditions.

Late submissions (fees and films) must be postmarked or delivered on or before
September 15, 2009. Late submission fee for each film is $20.00 US or $10.00 US for students,
payable to
Pahrump Arts Council.

All selected filmmakers should include a media packet with photos, promotional poster and brief bios of
the director, editor, all main characters and production crew when possible. Please be prepared to send
these materials by October 15, 2009. The program is open to filmmakers worldwide. Each Non-English
submission must have legible English sub-titles.

There is no age limit but if the applicant is under 18 years of age, the submission must be accompanied
by a Letter of Permission signed by a Parent or Guardian.


Film categories:

Drama; Comedy; Science-Fiction/Horror; Animation; Documentary and Music Video.

One (1) Best Film Award will be voted for each category by our panel of judges and one (1) Audience
Favorite Award will be determined by Audience Ballot.

Awards:

First place winner in each category will receive a cash prize of $100; the custom award "The LULU" and a
signed, numbered and framed official 2009  HDSIFF poster.  
The winner of the audience ballot will receive a cash prize of $100; the custom "People's Choice Award"
and a signed, numbered and framed official 2009 HDSIDFF poster.

Accepted Formats

Films and videos accepted to be screened during HDSIFF 2009 must be made available for Festival
presentation in at least two (2) copies in any one of the following formats: data .mov file (quicktime), Beta
SP, DVD, DV-DVcam or MiniDV. All presentation copies must be NTSC formatted.

All work submitted by Beta SP, DVD-R and DV-DVcam or miniDV must be shipped prepaid and received  
no later than September 15, 2009.

All selected films and videos should be insured by the entrant against damage or loss while participating
in the Festival. HDSIFF will not be liable for loss or damage (but we will take excellent care of your media).
Arrangements may be made to retrieve films and videos immediately after Festival screening.
